The allure of the Merano High Mountain Trail

The Merano High Mountain Trail, one of the best-known and most popular circular treks in South Tyrol, leads you along a total of 100 kilometres of historic trails around the Texel Group. The six stages, which run at an almost constant altitude of 1,400m, can be hiked individually or as part of a multi-day tour with overnight stays in huts.

  • Stage 1: from the Hochmuth to the Casa Del Valico/Hochganghaus hut
  • Stage 2: from the Casa Del Valico/Hochganghaus hut to the Giggelberg hut (Val Venosta/Vinschgau’s Mt Sonne/Sonnenberg)
  • Stage 3: from the Giggelberg hut to Mt Santa Caterina/Katharinaberg (from Vinschgau to Val Senales/Schnalstal)
  • Stage 4: from Mt Santa Caterina/Katharinaberg to the Stettiner hut
  • Stage 5: from the Petrarca/Stettiner hut to Matatz (Plan/Pfelderer Tal)
  • Stage 6: from Matatz to Hochmuth
