The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle
The 12 hectares of gardens in Merano/Meran accommodate approximately 3,000 plant species, which have been arranged in terraces and classified into themes and that thrive and flourish wonderfully. The mild climate in the Merano/Meran valley basin makes this possible! Towering above the gardens is Trauttmansdorf Castle, where Empress Sissi once spent her short breaks and where the Touriseum, the South Tyrolean National Museum for Tourism, can be found today.
Castel Tirolo/Schloss Tirol near Merano/Meran
The South Tyrolean National Museum for Cultural and National History is accommodated in Castel Tirolo/Schloss Tirol in Tirolo/Dorf Tirol. The well preserved castle alone would be worth a visit, but the permanent exhibition and changing special exhibitions make a visit to Castel Tirolo/Schloss Tirol all the more worthwhile!
The Schneeberg interactive mine in Passiria/Passeier
Europe’s once highest situated mine is a museum and adventure tunnel today. It is only open in the summer months and can only be reached on foot, but it offers thrilling adventures for both young and old explorers.
